WHERE MUSES DWELL: THE INSPIRED WINDOWS OF THE 2015 LCDQ LEGENDS OF LA CIENEGA

Unbridled creativity is on display every May at LCDQ Legends of La Cienega, when a national roster of interior designer talent comes together to create 67 individualistic window vignettes along LA's main design corridor, La Cienega Boulevard. Best seen under the cover of darkness, the magical illuminated window creations all along the boulevard and the surrounding design neighborhood is something amazing to behold. I have been attending this imaginative design event since its inception, and each year designers wow with their incredibly produced spaces in design showrooms and galleries. The event grows and expands, attracting bigger audiences each time. I was thrilled to be invited to moderate a Keynote Panel this year, and I asked Hutton Wilkinson, Celerie Kemble and Schuyler Samperton to discuss their Muses, and who or what they represent in their creative worlds. Creating an attention-grabbing window is a design challenge, let alone one that fits a specific theme. This year, using Muses as their guide, interior designers turned to music, art, travel, film and more to channel their creative zeitgeist. There is something truly special about this gathering of design talent and the creative community.  Where do muses dwell? Right here.

There were many theatrical showstoppers (This is LA after all) but this Ken Fulk-designed Movie Inside My Mind, blew everyone away, winning Editor's Choice for Best Window.

Bloggers Choice Winner Sam Allen created an elegant Bali-inspired window at Hollyhock in a lively blue and orange palette with traditional elements

Kylee Shintaffer did The Blank Slate, a monochromatic classically-inspired window in Hollyhock's right window. I loved its simplicity.

Jeff Andrews did Fuller and Roberts window, and his cool perspective-driven Proportion won the People's Choice Award

Kerry Joyce works with some pretty amazing art in his interiors so it is fitting he was inspired by Jean-Michel Frank in his stark McKinnon and Harris window

Imaginative firm and owners of namesake shop Nicky Kehoe  created a colorful world in the unusual palette of Wes Anderson at Hollywood at Home

New York designer Young Huh worked with beautiful fabric in shades of red and cream in her Odalique en Repose in Harbinger

Philip Gorrivan had fun with camo in his Harbinger window called The Military

Always inspired by something unique and wonderful, Commune Design found their muse in the Viennese Succession design movement at Remains Lighting

In the window of George Smith Furniture, Blondie inspired Kendall Wilkinson. The records scattered on the floor give it such zing.

Kristen Buckingham's shop window was done by KB Design who found Lauren Santo Domingo to be their print-inspired muse

Natasha Baradaran included neon signage and a faux marble wallpaper along wtih pops of red in her Claremont La Dolce Vita window

The curved paned window makes it hard to see the geometric play going on in the Curated for Downtown window called Non-Color Colors
