I have long been fascinated by the work of design collective, Commune. Their cool LA vibe, diverse but complimentary skill sets and unique take on design has always wowed me. Since 2004 they have been focusing on creative concepts in unique materials, and their most recognized projects may be their Ace Hotel designs.  When I heard a collection with West Elm was in the works, I was eager to see what they would create. The multi-disciplinary collaborative has designed a furniture collection for George Smith, lighting for Remains, rugs with Decorative Carpets and a tile collection for Exquisite Surfaces among other things,  and this new partnership provides the opportunity to put their stamp on a cross-category lifestyle collection of home decor. Featuring their distinctive, eclectic style in mixed materials and shapes, check out the collection standouts.

The living room set up includes an armless sofa and chair offered in a neutral or dark fabric trimmed in a contrast welt on metal legs. Mixing light woods and fairly neutral textures, they put the focus on mixing shapes and forms.

Creams and beiges, textural grained wood and pops of black with clever details

A low slung leather chair in oak and undyed leather is really well done

The showstopper: a shearling chair with Swedish influence

An elongated keyhole back and circular seat make this leather-covered stool a personality piece

Another leather piece that will get better with time is the button tufted ottoman with light oak legs

Having fun with shapes is something Commune does well. Triangular forms come together at the base of this Oak veneered ottoman that also serves as a coffee table.

With a chunky, substantial light wood base and black marble top, the mixed material pairing of this cocktail table is spot on

Their table lamps are simple forms in natural materials. I think they are stunning.

The Tripod Floor Lamp is ultra linear and spiky but the shade makes it able to transition into many interiors

And who doesn't love a good arch moment? A copper frame and Mango wood shelf make this mirror a great addition to an entry area.

The Diamond rug has a striking black and white striped pattern without going too all out tribal

One of the more colorful pieces in the art offering, this print, part of a color scheme series, is a good graphic moment.
