With mid-century modern style heating up and 1960's designs poised for a comeback, it seems to be a good time to launch a new design fair in NYC. Collectors of 20th Century furniture and accessories rejoice! The modern season is upon us, as Doyle + Design will be holding their Modern and Contemporary Sale with almost 270 lots, Tuesday, April 17 at 10am.
Then, over on the Westside, from April 12-15 at The Tent at Lincoln Center, many of the top dealers will showcase their collections at the newly established NYC20. From Liz O'Brien to Donzella, Lobel Modern to R 20th Century, the finest period examples of textiles, furniture, lighting, ceramics and more will be on display. The 36 dealers with booths from the US and abroad also have an online presence on 1st Dibs. The inaugural show, organized with Dolphin Promotions, is the group that manages the San Francisco 20th Century Art and Design Fair (SF20); Palm Springs Modernism Show, benefiting Modernism Week; Los Angeles Modernism Show, benefiting P.S. ARTS; and the Los Angeles Antiques Show. It is sure to attract those that flock to the West coast shows. The fashion world has gotten accustomed to the chic West side venue from fashion week, so this westward foray is exciting for the home design set.
Have fun channeling this season's Mad Men.
